Breakfast Tartine

A tartine is a French term describing an open-faced sandwich. We enjoy different tartine combinations, especially as an option for breakfast.

This particular tartine had sauteed onions, mushrooms, fresh kale and parsley. I used ciabatta bread and drizzled it with olive oil - - half of the bread I added roasted red pepper hummus for some dimension - - then topped all the bread with the sauteed combination. I toasted it at 350 degrees for about 10-15 minutes, until the bread was slightly crispy. After taking it out of the oven, I added freshly minced parsley and raw chopped kale to the top for extra nutrients, flavoring, and aesthetic appeal. The kale can also be toasted on the top if you prefer.

Mushrooms, onions, and garlic sauteed in olive oil and broth.

Tartines with sauteed combination, hummus spread, fresh raw parsley, and chopped kale.

Our local food critic giving the tartine a thumbs up!
